Well, sort of. Due to a shortage of single level equipment (due to the insanely cold temperatures), Amtrak began using Superliners on the Blue Water in mid-January, giving the train a look that was not-unlike its predecessor, the Chicago-Toronto International. On this day, due to traction motor problems on several Michigan-assigned P42s, cabbage 90218 was substituted on the train. This was the first time since late 2005 that 90218 had seen use on the Blue Water, although several other cabbages had appeared on the train over the winter. |
