Album Info:While I usually keep these folders reserved for local/random photos in my hometown area (East Lansing/Lansing, MI), I did not manage to get out much in December due to participating in a high school sport full time. Because of this, I have decided to combine two groups of photos from two major trips that I took. One batch follows Pere Marquette 1225 on one of its annual North Pole Express excursions, while the other features photos taken on my family's annual christmas vacation of which New York City was this year's destination. Some photos of CSX action in Lansing, taken on the 31st, close out this album as well as the year 2007. Hope you enjoy!

Title:  76 Miles
Description:  A few miles north of Oakley, 1225 creeps up to the marker at Milepost 76 (From Jackson, Michigan). Once upon a time, the St. Charles branch was part of the New York Central's mainline between Jackson and Saginaw. Today, only the segments between Jackson and Lansing (now the NS Lansing Secondary) and this segment between Owosso and Fergus exist. The sections between Fergus and Paines Junction, near Saginaw, and from Owosso to Lansing were torn up in the late 1970s.

Description:  Now running at restricted speed (due to poor track conditions), 1225 creeps along past milepost 76, several miles north of Oakley. The train has only one more mile to go before reaching the "North Pole" at the Saginaw County fairgrounds. GLC 385 follows closely behind in the distance.

Description:  Finally approaching the fairgrounds, 1225 slugs along past MP 77 at a mere 5 Miles Per Hour. Since this photo was taken, the track has been upgraded to the point where it can once again handle speeds of 10 MPH, but it will likely never see any higher speeds ever again.

Title:  GLC 385 Departing south
Description:  After hooking up to the rear of the NPE, 385 leads the train south and begins its return to Owosso. While I have chased and ridden these excursions for all four years that they have ran, this was the first time that I followed the train both north AND south. Had I not been carpooling with my friend Mike Tabone, these pictures would probably not exist. I'm glad they do though!

Description:  Heading through eastern Pennsylvania in the dead of night, we spotted a pair of EPRY engines sitting in the little hamlet of Quakertown. While I was unable to get a photo of the Dash-7 seen at the right, I was able to pull off this quick exposure of East Penn's RS1 #57. Quite a nice find, especially at 2 a.m. in the morning.
