D&M 8 |
Description: |
Detroit & Mackinaw #8 is an 0-6-0 switcher. She was built by Baldwin in 1914 for the Michigan Alkaline Co. where she worked until her retirement in 1959. After being retired, she was sold to a scrapyard in Alpena, MI, where she remained until 1969, when she was purchased by the Detroit & Mackinaw Railroad. The D&M used her for Employee excursions and other special ocassions until 1979, when the railroad donated her to the Henry Ford museum. I am sure that this locomotive will run again at some point in the future, but for now The Henry Ford has no plans for her, and she sits on display in Greenfield village, next to the roundhouse. |

TLE&W 202 |
Description: |
TLE&W 202 is a Baldwin 0-6-0, built in 1920 for Detroit Edison. Upon its retirement from DE, it was donated to Michigan Railroad Club, who owned it until 1973, when the Toledo, Lake Erie & Western purchased the locomotive. By Late 1974, the locomotive was operational and spent the next seven years hauling TLE&W's excursion trains. It currently resides with other equipment in TLE&W's Grand Rapids yard, awaiting funds for restoration. |

Stranded Yard |
Description: |
Another view of the Toledo, Lake Erie & Western's yard in Grand Rapids. The TLE&W runs from Grand Rapids to nearby Waterville, Ohio. Unfortunately, no trains have operated into or out of Grand Rapids for five years now, due to bad conditions on the Maumee river bridge, several hundred yards behind the photographer. This has effectively land-locked the equipment in the yard. |

Ex-Frisco 0-6-0 on display |
Description: |
This cute little 0-6-0 switcher is former Frisco #3749. She was built in 1911 by Baldwin. She is currently on display in Downtown Orlando, by the old Church Street station. She could use a bath, but is in decent cosmetic shape otherwise. |
